Date and Cherry Butter Bars
It's important to use butter and not baking margarine in this recipe, to achieve a lovely buttery flavour. This recipe makes 24 bars, says Mary.
I say: you can make 6, 12, 24 36.
What do we need:
225 self-raising flour
1/2 level teaspoon baking powder
75 gr butter
100 gr caster sugar
75 gr chopped dates
25 gr chopped red or natural
glacé cherries (I use Bigarreaux)
1 large egg, beaten
