Dutch spiced Sara or Abraham baked 50th birthday doll

A quote from John 8:75 ( You are not yet 50 and you have seen Abraham?) Or something in that direction. In The Netherlands it is custom to give a person a spiced baked doll (Abraham or Sara) when they have reached the age of 50. So here is the recipe. Adjust and decorate the doll at your own leisure. Mind that the dough likes to rest overnight.

Ingrediénts:

600 gr all purpose flour
1 knife point salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
300 gr light brown sugar
350 gr unsalted butter
50 ml milk
3 tablespoons of apple pie or pumpkin spices
blanched almond halves
powdered sugar + water for icing sugar

1. Sieve the flour, salt, baking powder and the brown sugar over a bowl. Put the diced butter, milk, spices in and knead with cold hands until you have a subtle and soft dough. Let the dough rest for a night in a cool place.
2. Roll out the dough into a square of 50cm and a thickness of about 1 cm.
3. Cut out a human figure of about 45-50 cm (use the blunt side of the knife) and draw lines and use almonds to make trousers or a skirt.

4. Bake the doll on a buttered or sprayed baking tray in a warm oven ( 200C.) in about 30-35 minutes. Make sure the ends don't burn!
5. When the doll has cooled off you can decorate with the icing sugar and silver balls.
6. When the doll has cooled completely you can stick some cotton balls on the Abraham doll, as a beard if you want, or decorate with more icing sugar.

                              "Enjoy"
